First Steps is Kentucky’s Early Intervention System that serves children from birth to the age of three who have developmental delays or a medical condition that is known to cause a delay. The bluegrass.org Office provides screening and eligibility determination for all referrals, as well as service coordination for families who have children in the First Steps Program.

Child Evaluation Specialists will:

  • Screen all referrals to determine if the child has a potential delay.
  • Complete evaluations and assessments of children for eligibility determination and program planning.

Service Coordinators will:

+Guide families through the First Steps program.

+Coordinate developmental evaluations and determinations regarding eligibility.

+Assist family with obtaining on-going intervention services for their child, if eligible.

+Assist family with locating other community resources that may provide additional supports to their family.
